Bowling pins
August 15,2004: Lunch and Bowling

We went to eat out at the Thai Restaurant right after church and after, we went bowling at Cumberland Lanes. We had a lot of fun bowling. I think about everyone made a strike...good job guys! Of course, we had to play the b-ball game...Anna and Sarey are addicted to it! And then Thomas tried to get people to play a game that was like DDR...I don't remember the exact name of it. But man...we sucked! No one really knew what they were doing hahah! It was funny...but good try guys! I think we should just stick with the bowling. Make sure you come back out for the next bowling event...until then, betta practice and make sure you bring some game next time! lol

August 8, 2004: Annual Swimming Picnic Party in KY

We headed out to the Water Park in Bowling Green after church. It's about an hour drive..so it wasn't that bad. This year not too many went for some reason, but for those that went, we enjoyed it. The food there was really good...they had some killer burgers man...Mr.Bigley knows how to make em good! Some went swimming and others were too busy gettin their grub on lol. The weather was really nice too...the sun wasn't even shining so that was great. Y'all know us black folk don't need to get any blacker...lol. We also played some cards there and on the way back home. It was kinda hard to play in the car because of the space limit and the bumpy ride...them Ky roads...what can I say. But it was all gravy...hope more go out next year!

August 7,2004: Back-to-school Party @ Mrs. Puckett's

Mrs. Puckett is one of the Youth teachers at our church and she just moved into her new house not too long ago. She got to design it herself and so she wanted us to check it out. We ended up being invited for a back-to-school party at her crib. Although it was about a 35-40 min. drive...it was worth it. Her house is very beautiful and oh so cozy and more than enough for one person.

We had a great time at the party. We ate hot dogs, chips, cookies, brownies, and some ate jelly sandwhiches bc they're too picky...but we won't say who. Anywho, since it was such a beautiful house, we had to take pics and so we decided to go back on the patio and take some on her swinging bench. And guess who decided to join our pics...a HORSE! It just came out of nowhere! It was so beautiful! We were all so fascinated by it..that was until policeman and rangers and all these animal control people starting roaming around everywhere. Mrs. Puckett said it wasn't the first time that happened. She also said that horses aren't the only animals that run loose...there have been cows and bulls too! Now that's scary!

We all went back inside because we had to start on our scavenger hunt. We each were paired up with a partner (Anna and Sopheap, Eric and Serena, Sarah and Sarey, Mrs. Martin and Hannah) and we were given a list of 12 items. Some items on there were: red balloon, ivory board, black button, yellow post-it note, 3 in. of scotch tape, etc. (Did you know an ivory board is a nail filer?...we didn't either lol.) So the key was to go to the houses in the neighborhood and ask for these items. We were limited to two items per house and not more than one team could be at one house at a time.  It was harder than we thought because most people either didn't have the item, already gave the item away, or never answered their door (even though we knew they were home!). But it was all good. I'm not exactly sure who won, but i know Eric and Serena came in last! Hahha LOSERS! It's ok guys...maybe next time! Before we wrapped things up, we were all given gifts. Some were very handy and cute, while others contained some very interesting info...only Thia knows what I'm talking bout...lol. But it was all great and we are very thankful that Mrs. Puckett and let's not forget Mrs. Martin were gracious enough to have us over and provide us with food and fun. Thanks!

We're invited back to her house sometime around Christmas for another gathering. So I hope everyone goes back out next time for another funfilled time! Until then...watch out for them horses!

July 31, 2004: Serena's 18th B-day Dinner

We went to eat out at Demo's downtown. We were supposed to be there by 6:30pm...but knowing how Asian people are, more than half showed up at 8 sumthin. But for those that were on time, we ended up waiting for about an hour and a half to be seated bc there were way too many people. So we basically just started eating when the others arrived. But it was all kewl. They have some really good food at affordable prices which is always a plus! We enjoyed it...but maybe next time we should do better planning so we can do more than just eating out. Oh yeah...how does it feel to be 18 now Serena?!? Hope it's great!

July 3-July7, 2004: CSBY/CSBF 20th Annual Conference
Bolivar, MO "Homecoming: Back to Our Roots"

CSBY was soooo awesome!!!! Although not too many of us got to go this year, speaking on behalf of those who went, it was a blast!  It was so great being back in Bolivar, MO once again. Alot of new faces showed up this year which was very kewl and alot of old faces returned which is always a pleasure. We had a wonderful time fellowshiping together and just enjoying the time we had with them goofy people like John C. (not u, MEeeh! lol) . The workshops were great, the speakers were powerful, and the praise and worship was off da chain...finally!!! I really loved Chaggy the clown...he was hilarious! I'm sure many lives were touched and changed by the message speakers, leaders, teachers, and counselors gave.

Mary and I were actually given the opportunity to teach again this year, and as always, we enjoyed it very much!  It was just amazing to see the unity among the CSBY group and also the unity of the young people with the adults. I believe that this is the start of a strong growth in unity and love in our Cambodian people all across the country. May we continue to grow as one and strengthen one another in encouragement and love in our Lord Jesus Christ. Let's always remember our roots and know who we truly are!

*The dates have been set for next year...July 2-5, 2005 in Bolivar, MO! Mark it on your calendars....hope that more will be able to go and join in on the awesome experience!   Until next time...keep your head up, keep your feet firm, and keep on shining! *
